About the site

Wollombi Valley Online is a project of the Greater Wollombi Communities Alliance Inc (GWCA) in conjunction with the entire Wollombi Valley Community.

It is one of the outcomes of the Wollombi Valley Community Development Strategy meetings, held in 2005, designed - as the community requested - to independantly facilitate better communication between community groups, businesses and individuals.

This website is an Official Australian Community Website, holding the Community Geographic Domain Name wollombi.nsw.au under the .au Community Domains Trust (.auCD). See other Australian Community Websites here.

See the Credits page for further details about the people that have put this website together. If you'd like to volunteer to write content for this website or contribute in some other way, please contact us. We can give a number of people direct access to editing and adding content to the pages.

All residents, businesses and community groups in Wollombi Valley can join this website for free, allowing you to post photographs, a basic business listing, news stories, events and procedural documents (minutes etc.) from your community group if you have no other current method to do so.

All community groups will also be given (free) access to mailing lists to contact their members without exposing their email addresses, allowing their members to manage their own subscriptions.

For example: gwca.announce@wollombi.nsw.au may be a one way mailing list to contact all GWCA members and gwca.discuss@wollombi.nsw.au would allow discussion to the whole group who have chosen to subscribe.

We are also offering user.name@wollombi.nsw.au email addresses to all residents, businesses and community groups for only $15 per annum each for a full email service , or $5 pa for a diversion (alias) to your current email address, so that you can maintain a permanent email address, even if you change ISPs.

Proceeds from the leasing of these email addresses will go towards hosting of these services by Webboy.net.

Email addresses for business and organisations are only shown to users that are logged in, this is to stop spam bots harvesting the details.

News and events listings are also available via RSS feeds Subscribe http://wollombi.nsw.au/events.xml and http://wollombi.nsw.au/news.xml for consumption by personal news readers (including those built into Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox) and other feed-friendly websites and blogs.
