Finger Painting Frenzy!

Monday 5 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 2 - 5 
Cost: $15
Teacher: Kim Barnes

In a lead up to starting the big Finger Painting Frenzy! we will be reading the story Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox. We will also sing some counting songs exploring the numbers 1 to 10 while playing enthusiastically on percussion instruments. Fingers will then get a workout with some colourful playdough before we get down and busy with beautiful gloopy paint using our hands to draw colourful lines and trails across big sheets of white paper.

Please wear old clothes or a painting shirt and bring a snack and drink.


Ponies and Princesses / Pirates and Racing Cars!

Monday 5 July 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Ages: 5 - 7
Cost: $15
Teacher: Kim Barnes

This is a 'must do' for all young pony and racing car enthusiasts wishing to have an original painting of their favourite horse or motor on the wall! Young enthusiasts learn to use tracing paper to create a design around this theme and then transfer these ideas onto a real artist canvas. As they stand at an easel, they will see their picture brought to life under the guiding hand of an experienced teaching artist from the Gallery.

Please bring a drink and snack and wear old clothes or a painting shirt.


Kite Making

Tuesday 6 July and Thursday 15 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 6 - 12
Cost: $15 per class
Teacher: Di Stackpool

Learn how to make your own kite using simple materials. We will use paint and a range of materials to decorate our kites. All materials are supplied but bring any other light-weight and decorative materials you may have at home with you to class. A suitable day and location will be organized by the teacher for students to get together and fly their kites.

Please bring a drink and snack and wear old clothes or a painting shirt.


Mask Making

Tuesday 6 July and Thursday 15 July 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Ages: 6 - 12
Cost: $15 per class
Teacher: Di Stackpool

Learn to make masks and explore the techniques for plays as well as just making them for fun at home on a weekend. Materials to bring: ribbons, egg cartons and buttons.

Please bring a drink and snack and an apron or old shirt.


Screen Printing

Wednesday 7 July and Wednesday 14 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 6 - 12
Cost: $15 per class
Teacher: Di Stackpool

Learn the technique of screen printing and how this can be used to create your own cards, bookmarks and colourful boxes. You can also create your own roll of wallpaper. Please bring small boxes and some cardboard to the class.

The Colours of the Lollypop Shop

Wednesday 7 July 2pm - 4pm
Ages: 7 - 12
Cost: $15
Teacher: Dorothy Compton

Learn how to make a picture using paint, collage, felt-pens and with lots of colour. Children will create a picture of their favourite lollypop shop.

Compiling a Visual Arts Diary

Thursday 8 July and Friday 16 July 10am - 2pm
High School Students: Years 9 - 12
Cost: $15 per class
Teacher: Adrienne Crouch

This is a structured workshop for high school students in years 9 - 12 studying Visual Arts and preparing for their HSC. Learn how to develop the potential of your own ideas and present these concepts in a cohesive and visually exciting diary format as well as learning skills in drawing, painting and collage. This four hour workshop also provides Visual Arts students from a range of local high schools with an opportunity to mix and talk about ideas around art.


Nature in Clay

Friday 9 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 5 - 8
Cost: $15

A fun two hours of rolling, molding, pinching and punching clay to sculpt small animals and the shapes of the bush.

Illustrate Your Own Book

Friday 9 July 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Ages: 8 - 12
Cost: $15
Teacher: Penny Walton

This is a great opportunity for students to make their own picture book under the guidance of Penny Walton who is a professional children's book illustrator. Bring a photograph of a special person, place or pet that can be used as the theme for your book.

All About Me!

Monday 12 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 3 - 5
Cost: $15
Teacher: Kim Barnes

All children attending this school holiday program will love finding out what makes them such special and delightful people to be around. We will be talking and singing songs about how special we are, playing with the colour parachute and then expressing ourselves through the mediums of play-dough, pastels and paint.

Each child will take home a unique self-portrait that is personally painted by them at an artist easel. This is a great class for awakening the little artist within and also to develop self confidence and self esteem!

How to draw a horse

Monday 12 July 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Ages: 7 - 12
Cost: $15
Teacher: Kim Barnes

Children will learn about the different shapes and lines that can be used in making drawings of this wonderful animal. We will be looking at pictures of horses and discussing the ways they move. Students will have fun making experimental drawings in charcoal of horses galloping or still.

Ceramic Art

Tuesday 13 July 10am - 12pm
Ages: 7 - 12
Cost: $30
Teacher: Vicki Birt

Paint your own egg & toast plate with your own individual design. Ceramic art is fun and you have a lasting memento that you can use for years to come! All materials including the plate and non-toxic glazes are supplied. The teacher finishes the final glazing and firing and the plate is ready to be picked up the following week.

Fantasy Fun with Picture Making

Wednesday 14 July 2pm - 4pm
Ages: 7 - 12
Cost: $15

Children learn to extend their own imaginative ideas about the world by picturing it in fun and fantastic ways. Children can learn how any creative idea can be expressed on paper. This is a great class for young kids with wild imaginations who want to get their ideas down on paper using paint, pastels and collage.
