We have added some information about the draft Cessnock 2008 LEP (including that document) and it's implications to the Wollombi Valley Community.

We will be adding two mailing lists shortly, one for public discussion and one for one-way announcements about what is happening on this front.

This E3 zoning is tantamount to confiscation without compensation. The owner can do virtually nothing of any consequence, it's either banned outright or so restricted by bureaucratic interference that it's virtually impossible.
The only remaining right of any consequence is the right to pay rates!
The only comparable actions within the last hundred years or so is the confiscation of Jewish property by Adolph Hitler and the more recent actions of Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

It would seem that the open period for comment is imminent.

I suggest a list of very specific questions be put to Council, in writing asap, with a view to Council ansering these questions, on a formal basis, when a meeting is held to discuss the zoning proposals.

For example -- I purchased our property in 1975, and planted approx. 200 native trees each year for the next 10 years or so. The purpose of this was partly for environmental reasons, partly farm forestry, and partly to create a future firewood supply. We considered that the 200 per year was probably overplanting, and that we would selectively reduce this by thinning or firewood use.

If E3 is imposed on our property will we need Council approval to cut down each tree we want to use for firewood?

Also, we have fruit trees, which it is usual to prune each year. If we are E3 will we need Council approval to do this?
