Subject: Meeting March 10, 2010- Wollombi Valley Working Party (draft LEP)

Dear Sarah,

I would like to express some concerns that I hope you will share with your colleagues. There appears to be some frustration from both sides due to the fact that each time we (the community) meet with your team in relation to the Draft LEP, we do not progress past the "understanding and need for a change in the current zoning". There are several reasons for this and unfortunately I have to say that the finger is to be pointed at your team.

  1. When organising a meeting, usually an agenda is set. This is circulated to the parties who will be attending the meeting so that they can peruse, analyse and prepare for a fruitful and organised meeting. It appears that today only you and Bo had an agenda. It would be fair to say that you found it hard to adhere to it, not to mention that you probably only achieved 5% of your intentions. Needless to say that while I am pationate about participating in having the correct decision made for the future of the Wollombi Valley, I feel that today was a total waste of time, progressing no further than the last community meeting held here in Wollombi; in addition to this, as the meeting was held during normal working and trading hours, I am annoyed that I lost valuable working time from my job. The process of formal meetings also requires that minutes of the prior meeting be distributed to the parties prior to the next meeting; in this instance it is even more important as Group A does not have any idea of what was discussed and achieved with Group B. I therefore trust that we will see some minutes of today's (so called) meeting before next Wednesday's meeting, as well as an Agenda for next week's meeting.
  2. The lack of organisation by your team, with the absence of Darryl Fitzgerald for the best part of the meeting, is inexcusable and gives serious consideration to the dedication given by your team to the resolution of the Draft LEP issues at hand. Not only did Darryl arrive late without so much as an apology or notice to his team members, but when he did eventually show up, he addressed only one of the two groups (further to be discussed on this matter). If we are to be considered a Working Party, one would suppose that we work as "one". One would think that at the first meeting, at least, the Working Party would have been addressed as a whole and then decided whether two teams would be an acceptable option.
  3. The Working Party has concerns on the fact that there are two groups. It appears that ALL nominations were accepted and chosen due to the "quality and diversity", so why are we separated? We are supposed to be a "think tank" and work together. I believe this needs to be revised by next meeting.

The Working party needs to convene as one group to ensure that a common understanding can be reached.
  4. Without any offence intended, as professional people, I am sure you will be able to handle constructive criticism. It appears that the "team" handling the Draft LEP directly with the community is still lacking any understanding and knowledge of the area in question: Wollombi Valley!

Sarah, you appeared very ill-equipped with specific questions of the matter at hand. I would suggest some research on your part so you can understand what the Working Party is talking about, either to you or amongst themselves!

Bo appears to have an attitude and arrogance about him that he has displayed since our first Community Meeting. If the pan is too hot, you may consider stepping aside and letting someone else, who has better people skills, deal with the Working Party!

Daryl comes accross as a knowledgeable individual, but
