LEP/Conservation Zone

The Cessnock LEP 2010 is currently on exhibition - with submissions closing on 4 August 2010

There is some contention over the proposed Conservation Zone over and around Wollombi Village, which now extends quite a way outside the village... to Undercliff and Mulla Villa etc. If you're not sure, drop into Wollombi Store and see the proposed map. There is a heritage meeting at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre next Wednesday I believe, if you're interested, call Council for the details.

Nine or ten of the Wollombi Working Party attended the third meeting in Cessnock today, with no real result except some tense moments between a few people, some justified I guess but I'm getting over it all a bit now.

A concert by Allegra Giagu (Soprano) and Jonathan Hope (Organist) on Saturday 24 July 2010 at 5.30 pm at St John's Wollombi.

Allegra is of course Bruno and Victoria's daughter, on holiday back here in Australia from her current home in London for a couple of months with her partner Jonathan Hope.

This event may be packed so get there early (tickets on sale from 4:30) and rug up for a winter's evening. Don't miss it. It's not often we get world class music live in the village. See Edinburgh Military Tattoo - Salute to Australia 2005 and The Story of Christmas on YouTube if you haven't heard Leggy sing before.

Offenbach Down Under at Sacred Spaces

An exciting evening of song with excerpts from some of the composers' well known operas sung in their original language, plus the Australian premiere of Offenbach's chamber opera Pepito.

Pepito is a farce about love during times of war. It has been translated Pepito into colloquial English and set it in a small Australian town at the end of World War II. It is satirical and quirky and full of Offenbach's typically beautiful melodies.

This event will be a fun outing for the whole family. Tickets on sale now at Singleton Organics.
