Extract from the Traffic Committee Report in the Agenda for the Cessnock City Council meeting this Wednesday  4 August 2010 (516kb PDF) [See pages 68 - 73].

Recommended that:-

  1.  The existing two-lane two-way traffic conditions on Great North Road Bucketty at Ramsays Leap remain;
  2. Council investigate, as part of the final works, re-sealing the existing road pavement using an aggregate of small size (or the use of asphaltic concrete) to assist skid resistance in wet weather;
  3. The existing "Give Way" restriction on the southbound (or Wollombi) approach to Ramsays Leap remain, with the location of the holding point to be moved closer to the curve for improved sight distance to approaching traffic from the south;
  4. Tree clearing behind the existing guard rail, on the southern approach to Ramsays Leap, be undertaken, also to effect improved sight distance;
  5. Council investigate widening the existing pavement on the outside of the curve at Ramsays Leap, in combination with a review of the existing marked centreline alignment at the curve and on the approaches;
  6. The RTA be requested to investigate a reduced speed limit on Great North Road at Ramsays Leap;
  7. The proposed parking spaces be removed from the design.
