BRIEF OUTLINE ASSOCIATED WITH THE PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF 3 CUNNEENS BRIDGE ALIGNMENT OPTIONS

Cessnock City Council has three possible bridge alignments on public exhibition from the 12 December 2008 to 19 January 2009. This will enable the public to view and comment on their preferred replacement option.

The exhibition period has been extended to 4 February 2009 to allow council to make a presentation to the Wollombi Valley Progress Association at the meeting to be held 31 January 2009.

All three options have a series of points relating to the benefits and shortcomings of each in relation to:-

  • Impact on the existing heritage of the site
  • Impact on the surrounding landowners
  • Impact of the aboriginal archaeology of the area
  • Impact on the environment
  • General cost implications
  • Future interpretive opportunities

These options are also available for viewing at the following locations:-

  • Wollombi General Store
  • Laguna General Store
  • Millfield General Store
  • Cessnock City Council Administration Building, Vincent Street Cessnock
  • Cessnock City Council website www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au
  • Wollombi Valley Online website www.wollombi.nsw.au

The existing bridge and abutments will not be removed during or after the construction of the replacement bridge.

Please do not hesitate to contact me on telephone 4993 4262 should you require further information or clarification.

Yours faithfully
