This Australia Day market was a huge success mainly due to our large group of volunteers!

This is a fine example of how our community really can pull together and work side by side for the good of Wollombi and Laguna.

The four community groups : St John's, St Michaels, The Tennis Club and Wollombi Tidy Valley's worked hard for weeks ,  getting supplies, baking, setting up, co coordinating, manning the barbeque, making sandwiches and not to forget the clean up!

The Volunteers list is very long, but a few of these tireless workers I would like to thank as they have participated for years and go beyond the call of duty every year, regardless of the extreme conditions, such as heat and rain.

Where do you start? Well firstly I would like to thank Gillian James for her idea to share the profits and work load between the community groups. Her support and input into the Australia Day Markets is enormous.

Then the next few are Russell Davies and his wife Kay, Russell together with Rex Thompson stand at the entry gate for hours in the hot sun with the donation bucket.

Keith Thomas for the mowing and slashing together with Ian Sternbeck, marking all the stall sites by the Tennis Club, the ladies and men in the barbeque and tea/coffee stall who serve hundreds of hungry visitors.

Then there are a few that are there every time from dawn to dusk! Joan Tumminello (also Laurie who wasn't at the stall this year due to illness) Pat Evans, Paula Thompson, Kay Davies, Kerry Lannoy and Jackie James just to name a few.  Then of course Fred James behind the scenes with ute load of goods to and from the markets and removal of rubbish, Benny Thomas this year staying back to clean up the whole site!

There was a great amount of monies raised for each community group, more than last year. The stall holders were down but the takings were up in the food stalls, loads of scones, slices and cups of coffee.

A big thank you to Klara Kaye of Imag for all the free exposure.

Maria and Allan Roe and family from Wollombi Village Vineyard for their donation of fruits from God.

Then thank to Francisca Maul for manning the phone enquiries and baking the endless scones with homemade jam.
