Come along to a worthy fundraising event in support of Carrie's Place Women & Children Inc... and a good night of entertainment at Cessnock Community Performing Arts Centre on Friday 6 March to see "The Vagina Monologues".
V-Day Lower Hunter 2009 is a benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, raising funds for Carrie's Place educational programs and the International V-Day Spotlight.
V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works.
Tickets for this event can be obtained from Council's Customer Service office or phone 4990 7134. Tickets are $25 per adult or $20 concession.

Nominations have been received for the Senior Citizen of the Year... what a hard task to select from such worthy recipients. The Committee had an enormous task selecting the winner/s for this prestigious award. Our Senior Citizen/s of the Year will be announced on Thursday 19 March at Cessnock Community Performing Arts Centre commencing at 10.30 am.
The morning promises to be of great entertainment.... Our Musical Director Margaret Albury has organised music involving the Mulbring Public School Choir and the Jacaranda Singers and an added feature will include Stephen Lombardi playing the Didgeridoo and their maybe a special performance from several young Indigenous dancers from Cessnock High School, followed by morning tea in the foyer of the Centre.

Applications for the Mayoral Academic Scholarships will be closing this Friday 27 February 2009... you will need to have your applications in no later than that date. The Presentation Night is to be held on Thursday 26 March at Cessnock Community Performing Arts Centre where the winners of the 12 scholarships will be announced.
On offer there are 12 scholarships which include: Incentive Scholarship, Hospitality & Tourism, Mining, Medical and Health, Local Government, Post HSC, University, Communications or related Discipline, International Tourism and Marketing, TAFE, IT and Building and Associated Trades.
