WORKS & SERVICES COMMITTEE
QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Councillor Besoff

YANGO CREEK ROAD

Question:

Councillor Besoff advised he had received complaints from residents of Yango Creek Road in regard to the Council work that was done in the area, between Yango Creek Bridge and Dry Arm. Residents had advised Council went through with a grader, filled the area but haven't returned to put gravel on it. Residents further advised it is dangerous to drive their cars over it, when can Council do something about it.

Answer:

The Director Works & Services advised that he would have it inspected tomorrow.

From my observation on Friday 4th April, two very bad sections of Yango Creek Road between Wollombi and the entry to Undercliff Winery have been patched where there were deep grooves across the road due to heavy rains, however a series of very deep pot holes on the bend just past Undercliff Winery, and before reaching Dry Arm turn off, remain untouched. I don't about further along Yango Creek Road past Dry Arm turn off.

There are still a number of very bad spots beyond Dry Arm with deep grooves and unavoidable potholes. The ones Graham mentions just past Undercliff are still the worst section though.

It's an accident waiting to happen. Especially when they are full of water as they are now as you can't see which ones are deep any more.

Apparently council have said that they will get to fixing Yango Creek Road within 3 weeks. Let's wait and see...
