Forums on Mental Health

Cessnock Area Mental Health Support Group will be holding six public awareness forums on mental health.
The topics will include:
- Introduction to Mental Health
- Psychotic Disorders (Schizophrenia and Bi Polar)
- Depression and Suicide
- Anxiety Disorder
- Substance Use Disorder
- The Carer Perspective - Looking after the Carer
The first of the monthly forums, An Introduction to Mental Health will be held at the Cessnock Rugby League Supporters Club (Old Boardroom) on Monday April 6 from 7:30pm.
The presentation is designed to be informative to families and carers, those living with mental illness, employers and staff, teachers and senior students, interested members of the community in general.
Question time will follow the presentation.
It is free of charge and attendees will receive a package including mental health information and resources.
The forum will be supported by the Newcastle branch of the Schizophrenia Fellowship Sunflower Centre.
The Hunter Areas Community Development Officer and Consumer Advocate, Nadine Farrell will present the program.
