Community Websites on a roll

Two Community websites were launched this week, one in Tasmania (the first in that state) and one (with two names) in NSW.
The Tasmanian site is in the town of Taroona, which you may know from the Shot Tower if you have travelled around Hobart.
Deirdre Brown of the Taroona Community Association said "the Taroona community website is a great way to bring the community together and to share news about events and activities.
"There has been an overwhelmingly positive response from community organisations and individuals since our Association approached them seeking support for the application for the community domain name.
"Two of the benefits which were immediately identified by people were that the Taroona Community Newsletter could be expanded without further cost, and that now there could be an easily-discovered source of information about the suburb for prospective new residents."
The other is considerably closer in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest.
The website coordinator Lyn Reid said "both the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest communities are pleased to become part of the online world. We hope that these new sites will become a one-stop-shop for information for the community, local businesses and visitors to the area.
"We are very proud of both the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest communities and look forward to showcasing all we have to offer on the World Wide Web to encourage greater tourism to the region."
