437 THE DIVINE GESTURE

Sculpture in Stone by ROSS FLETCHER
OPENING on Friday, June 5th at 5pm.
Exhibition dates June 5th - 21st  Weekends/Wednesdays 10am to 4pm

Earlier this year, Ross decided to hold a solo exhibition and also to travel to Carrara, Italy, for a marble sculpting class. He is now ready to fulfill the first of his two objectives for 2009.

Make sure to drop in to the Wollombi Cultural Centre for the Opening or during the exhibition opening hours to meet Ross and experience this very talented artist's love affair with stone.

What is a divine gesture?

"It's an everyday thing, offering someone a cup of tea, smiling at someone in passing, a simple exchange that stirs some feelings in you. I'm open to inspiration from everywhere and everything.

I'm hoping this show will be a good springboard for my planned trip to Italy for a marble sculpting course and the educational rewards gained from bathing in an another country's rich artistic history.

This will be a show of new works, and hopefully a couple with Michelle Loadsman's mosaic touch. Anyway, with the skills I have gathered so far, this will be my divine gesture to you, spontaneous and simple."

An Exhibition of Paintings by Julia Francis

Opening Friday 3rd July at 5pm for drinks with the artist at the Wollombi Cultural Centre.

Exhibition continues to Sunday 18th July 10am to 4pm

"This exhibition continues my exploration of 'brushless painting'. As with all of my work, nature is the primal inspiration, its ever changing light, shade and colours offer me an endless source of material to work with. The painting process develops organically mirroring the way the landscape regenerates and rewrites itself. This is seen in the paintings through a weaving of calligraphic marks against the grid. This juxtaposition represents the chaotic within organized systems. For this exhibition many of the works specifically focus on the way nature often repeats its motifs and forms in a multitude of intriguing ways."
