[Letter to Wollombi Valley Progress Association]
Simone,
Here is an update on the progress of Cunneens Bridge Replacement and Paynes Crossing Road gravel section upgrade.
The current status of the Cunneens Bridge project:
- Kayandel will submit the final Statement of Heritage Impact Addendum to Council for review shortly.
- The Section 87,NPWA Research Permit Application ( for indigenous relics) for the upstream alignment option is currently with DECC. I spoke to Rosalie Nieve earlier this week to check on the progress of the permit. I was informed that the permit approval was about 60% complete and should be finalised within 2 to 3 weeks. Council will then organise the test pit excavations as required in the Section 87 permit as soon as practicable.
- All proposed speed restrictions, warning signage and traffic calming devices have now been installed for the Cunneens Bridge, including the barriers north of Williams Bridge.
- Tender docs for bridge replacement are progressing.
- The narrow section of gravel road immediately south of 'The Grange' now has concrete barriers, guide posts, warning and stop signage installed to reduce this section to One Lane only. The 40 km/h speed limits have been installed on this section of roadway.
- The "split level" road design will be sent to Bill Jordan shortly to prepare an extension to the Statement of Heritage Impact to cover the 'high road' location.
