Laguna Village People Cricket Club in their inaugural season (as part of Paxton Cricket Club) have won the 4th grade minor premiership.
They now play a semi-final vs. Cessnock Supporters Club at Baddeley #1 on Saturday from 12:30pm for the right to play the final.
All are welcome and a big presence of local supporters will be warmly appreciated by the team. Please bring a chair or blanket and a picnic with whatever drinks you desire. In the Arts:
Harley Tait opens his exhibition Reflections at the Wollombi Cultural Centre this evening from 6 to 8pm.
Harley is a classically trained fine artist and concert pianist and has been working and exhibiting in the region for 15 years, including a stint in The Forge in Wollombi where he ran the "Tait Gallery". He also performed a Mothers Day concert of his own compositions at Capers a couple of years ago. The exhibition will be open this Saturday and Sunday and next Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Hadyn Wilson's exhibition Stories from the Archive : A Palaeobotanical Narrative has been extended until 5 April at Cessnock Regional Art Gallery. Details and some of the artwork here.
On Wednesday evening this week, Cessnock Council voted to grant emergency funding to CRAG, and to investigate the purchase of the building in Vincent Street. Read a report of the Council meeting here.
On Saturday night, a Double Bill Concert with fine Romantic and Classical music at Singleton Civic Centre. First half: Gerard Willems Renowned piano virtuoso from Sydney playing Schumann's Carnaval & Beethoven. Second half: Lake Macquarie Trio (Piano - Mercia Buck, Violin - Peter Coombes, Cello - David Robertson) playing Dvorak's Dumky Trio and Haydn's Gypsy Trio. Tonight, a Jam Session at Laguna Wine Bar and on Sunday morning, Laguna Markets - Beautiful fresh local produce, trees & shrubs, Lavender products, old wares and more... Lovely way to socialise on a Sunday morning. Free to all. Details here
On Saturday Night, Sabrina Panarotto from "Amanda's on the Edge" will be holding "The Last Taste of Summer" - a Venetian inspired five course Degustation menu including selected matching wines - at Cafe Wollombi. Details of the dinner and bookings here.
Next Thursday, The Law Society of NSW and Samaritans Information and Neighbourhood Centre, Cessnock will present Wills and Power of Attorney in conjunction with Seniors Week. Details of the seminar here.
