Dale Troy has lived in the Cessnock electorate for the past 22 years.

Originally elected to Council in 2004 as an independent candidate, Dale was then re-elected running as a Liberal candidate in 2008. Councilor Troy served one term as Deputy Mayor and is standing as an independent in the NSW State Government Elections.

Dale is a passionate advocate for local issues and has publicly campaigned against the closure of Kurri Kurri hospital, privatisation of Cessnock Gaol, coal seam gas exploration in our vineyard district, the inappropriate locating of heavy industry at Greta and the interference of the Labor Government in electricity negotiations for Hydro Aluminium.

Dale believes that as an independent seat, Cessnock will finally have the opportunity to get their voice heard in Parliament and can start to tackle the inequity of funding for our region.

Key roles while on Council include a term as Deputy Mayor as well as involvement in numerous local committees and community groups including:

Dale is a self employed tradesman and works as a painting contractor. He also owned and operated a retail butchery for a number of years.

Dale plays A grade pennants golf for the Vintage Golf Club and has been involved with the Cessnock minor rugby league as a league safe official and fill-in coach with juniors at the club.

Dale lives in Cessnock with his wife of 24 years Sharon and their two sons aged 19 and 15.

"My campaign slogan says STAND UP FOR CESSNOCK because for too long Labor hasn't. While they enjoy a strong majority across the Hunter electorates, Labor MP's haven't used their power or influence to demand our fair share of the Budget."
