Mayor of Cessnock Alison Davey is apparently running for the seat of Cessnock for the Nationals but was the only candidate that failed to show at the Wollombi Meet-the-Candidates function.

Alison Davey has lived in Cessnock for forty years and has pursued a teaching career over that time, teaching at West Cessnock and East Maitland Public Schools.

She then served as Principal of Ellalong Public School and Bellbird Public School and has motivated many students and staff and is passionate about ensuring our kids get the best possible start in life.

Alison has served as a Councillor on Cessnock Council since 1983 and was elected Mayor by the Cessnock community in 2008.

She currently operates the Cessnock Achievement Centre which provides tuition for both children and adults in need.

Some of the other community positions she has held over that time include:

Alison has indicated that she will only stand at this election and will not seek re-election in 2015. This is a timeframe she feels will allow her to solely focus on serving the best interests of the community.

Alison wants to be a part of the new government that she feels can help deliver the resources that this area sorely needs.
