The Christian Democratic Party (CDP) has endorsed Fred Cowley as its Upper Hunter candidate. Fred joins the ranks of a State wide campaign which will see CDP represented in most seats as well as strong represention for the Upper House.
Fred has been married to wife Susan for twenty five years and they have three children. The couple run a beef grazing and rural contracting enterprise based at Gresford.
Fred says key issues include:-
- Resist the NSW power sell-off;
- Moratorium on Coal Seam Gas and new mining approvals subject to sustainable planning, research and proper legislation to be administered by an independent, objective body;
- Lack of Government funding of infrastructure throughout NSW and particularly to service regions providing significant mining royalties;
- Improvement of health services, including rural NSW;
- Support the health and growth of Australian primary and manufacturing industries, and small business, to underpin Australian workers and their families' standard of living;
- Oppose legislation changes that are destructive and undermine our traditional family and community values.
Voters who do not support what were traditionally Green Party moral values are urged to familiarise themselves with the stance of local candidates on these issues because an increasing number of MP's (ie. individuals within Labour, Liberal parties and Independents) are supporting this type of legislation (eg same-sex marriage & adoption).
