The Convict Trail is the name for convict built Great North Road, the surrounding land and historic buildings. From which ever direction you approach Wollombi, you are travelling along parts of the Convict Trail. To make your journey more enjoyable the Convict Trail Project has produced a series of E-brochures downloadable from their website.
The Convict Trail Project has been in existence since the early 1990's. It was initiated by the Bucketty and Wollombi communities (population 150 and 300 respectively) and for its work in preserving the Great North Road, it has been nationally recognised as one of the most successful community-based heritage organisations.
